The Amazon rainforest is home to an incredible number of trees. Nearly 60% of the rainforest is in Brazil. It contains around 400 billion trees, including many species of Myrtle, Laurel, Palm and Acacia . Excellent timber is furnished by Mahogany and the Amazonian Cedar.
The forests they form are home to the huge variety of animals found in the Amazon. But their greatest riches yet may be the compounds they produce some of which are used for medicine and agriculture. One interesting fact about this forest is due to the thickness of the canopy ( the top branches and leaves of the trees ), the Amazon floor is in permanent darkness.
